About me

Born and raised in Turin, Italy, my journey began with an insatiable curiosity for the world around me, from reading comics to music and crafting elaborate Lego constructions to trekking through mountain landscapes and exploring forgotten industrial sites. This diverse passion for discovery and creation would eventually converge into my work with moving images. My work explores the dynamic intersection of technology, communication, and art through video and immersive media. I’m particularly drawn to immersive video technologies, which I believe hold tremendous untapped potential for storytelling and human connection. For me, discovering and pushing the boundaries of this evolving visual language represents one of the most exciting creative challenges of our time.

Video installations captivate me because of their unique ability to create meaningful connections between viewers and artworks, managing space in between people and opera. These experiences come alive only through human interaction—there’s something magical about that liminal space where technology meets gesture, where visitors become active participants rather than passive observers through intuitive, natural interactions.

I hold a degree in Communication Sciences, where I focused my thesis on VideoArt and Social Activism. This academic foundation sparked my journey into professional video production and installation work, alone or working with other people. A few years later, I founded Motion Pixel Studio, a creative video production agency, and in my works I try to bridge commercial projects with artistic experimentation and social responsibility.

Stefano SburlatiMy expertise was further deepened through a doctorate in Cultural Heritage at Politecnico di Torino, where I specialized in digital archive renewal and museum video installations. This experience has allowed me to work at the intersection of preservation and innovation, helping cultural institutions engage audiences through contemporary digital storytelling.

Teaching has become an integral part of my practice. I’ve had the privilege of sharing my knowledge through courses on video editing, post-production, videoart, and interactive video installations at prestigious institutions including Accademia di Belle Arti di Novara, IED – Istituto Europeo di Design, Politecnico di Torino, Scuola Civica di Cinema di Milano and Scuola Holden. This pedagogical work continuously enriches my own creative practice.

Video installations are fascinating to me too, connecting visitors to operas and making sense only with people: the magical space in between can let users moving in with gestures based on natural interaction.

I graduated from University many years ago, with a final thesis about VideoArt and Social Activism (Major of Sciences of Communication). Shortly after, I started shooting and editing videos and working on video installation. Few years later, I’ve founded Motion Pixel Studio, a creative video production agency. Meanwhile, I completed my doctorate in Cultural Heritage at Politecnico di Torino, focusing my activity in renewing digital archives and video installation of some museums.

Teaching is also part of my experience: I have taught courses on video editing/post-production  and videoart /interactive video-installation. Among other places, I have taught these course at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Novara, IED – Istituto Europeo di Design, Politecnico di Torino and Scuola Holden.
